I saw this, and couldn’t stop this drabble from happening.
It’s like this every night.
She comes in here, she snuggles in.
And she sleeps.
Every night.
She sleeps peacefully, too. She even snores.
But I can’t sleep.
Because she’s too close, and too far.
I’m nothing to her but her refuge, the place where she can actually get a good night’s sleep.
Her escape.
I’m her hidey-hole, where she knows she’s always welcome, knows she can always go.
And she does. Every night.
She sneaks in, and she sleeps.
Nothing more, nothing less.
Always nothing.
But I want more than nothing. I want more.
I want to hold her, to comfort her with more than just the sanctuary of my bed.
I want my arms around her, my skin on hers. I want to know her secrets, her heart, all the reasons why she’s here, why she comes to me, why she escapes.
I want her warmth, her chill, every darkness inside her and every light to match it.
I want her to trust me. For more than just to let her sleep. I want her to trust me with pieces of herself, to trust me to give pieces of my own.
I want everything with her, want her as my everything.
And she just wants to sleep.
